Scrolling through Instagram or Pinterest, you'll see plenty of makeup looks you love and want to try — but not all of them translate the same way to your own face. A great rule of thumb is to search for pictures of people with facial features close to yours.
This matters most with eye makeup. The same eyeshadow look on an almond, protruding eye shape will read very differently on a hooded or monolid eye, where the mobile lid stays mostly hidden.
The first step is identifying your own eye and face shape, then looking for a celebrity or public figure with similar features to start pulling inspiration from.
