Wedding pictures are one of the best ways to hold onto every memory from your day. There are countless photography styles to choose from — but how much time should you actually set aside for taking them?
After hundreds of weddings, I've noticed that investing a real slot of time in photos almost always pays off with images you'll want to print and keep. It's not always the part of the day you (or, let's be honest, your husband-to-be) are most excited about — but once it's done, you're free to fully enjoy the party.
How much time you need depends on a few things: whether you're doing a first look with your partner, dad, or friends, whether you want getting-ready photos with your girls or family, or just some solo portraits. Talk it through with your photographer — and make sure to be ready at least 30 minutes before pictures start, so you have a buffer for accessories, freshening up, or just breathing. On a wedding day, time always moves faster than you expect.
