It's a question fewer people ask than you'd think — most assume the veil manufacturer has already figured it out, but that's not always the case. The most common method is a comb, and the type of comb makes all the difference.
Plastic and metal combs with wide-set teeth work best for all-down hairstyles, or ones with very few bobby pins — the wide teeth give the longest-lasting grip. Metal combs with thinner, more widely spaced (and often bendable) teeth work better for updos and other pinned styles, since the narrow teeth can slide through the bobby pins and into the style itself, letting the veil fall perfectly with the grip it needs to stay put.
